Still fighting your holiday excesses and post-Covid lethargy? The Athens Half Marathon on March 20 is the perfect opportunity to ease yourself into a training schedule and work your way up to the real deal in November. Plus, free viewing of the city’s most photogenic facades as you stream past!
On routes that will literally take your breath away from the starting point at Syntagma, past the stunning trilogy of buildings on Panepistimiou Avenue: the Academy of Athens, the Athens University and the National Library, the Athens Half Marathon is as much an excuse to rediscover Athens as it is to test your endurance.
Organised by SEGAS and the City of Athens, the Half Marathon includes a a 5km Race and the classic 21km route.
All participants are required to have a valid Covid Vaccination Pass or Recovery Certificate.
Registrations open until March 1, though registered runners until February 15 get a personalized bib. Basic registration fee €17 and €12 for the 5km race.
