The OG Sacher-Torte comes to One&Only Athens for a winter residence

From October through the end of January, Café Sacher takes over Alelia Bar at One&Only Aesthesis, bringing its iconic coffee-house culture and world-famous sweets to the Athenian Riviera. The Cake That Started It All
Meet the Original Sacher-Torte: rich chocolate, a delicate layer of apricot jam and nearly 200 years of history in every slice. Born in Vienna in 1832, when 16-year-old Franz Sacher stepped in to create a dessert for Prince Metternich’s guests, this iconic cake went on to become a global sensation and the ultimate signature of a city’s flavour profile.
Today, the original recipe remains a closely guarded secret, with every cake crafted through 34 individual steps and presented in Sacher’s signature wooden box. The finishing touch? A dollop of unsweetened whipped cream, just as tradition dictates.
The Original Sacher-Torte may be the star, but there’s plenty more to tempt you at Alelia Bar. Apple Strudel, Original Sacher Cubes and signature Viennese coffee creations, including the creamy Melange and the bold, indulgent Einspänner to bring a little old-world charm to your Riviera plans.
